Well when you do get the time, make it look more ripped or more like broken pixels.

Re: Hobbesy's Fancy Scenery & Co.

I find it too crowded and to generic. There is almost no diverse height and with only one or two ways to the next building it is very easy to defend your space. The grafity(?) Everywhere and at most in the far right building doesn't reall add anything. I do however like the somewhat interactive background.

I think you could a bit more with the background, like add darker bits on the buildings to signify windows etc. And that big staircase on the right, that'd create really boring gameplay; topple it over to make a big ramp or something.

And make more floor collapses into ramps, for easy travel between floors. As well as more blockages.

I'm going to do the background from scratch. The posters and stuff people made are still going to be there, the buildings are just going to be more detailed.

I haven't done anything to the buildings since the last time I touched this, but I will make them more collapsed and interactive.

Which background colour is the best?

I still don't like this map, there is something wrong with the 20 tons of sand, and the orange one looks best

I tried to break up the geography a little bit. This isn't really a finished example, but it's a nice mock-up of what I'm going for.

Expect huge chunks to be missing from the buildings next post.

(No, I won't change the rock that looks like a huge dick.)

I liked it more when it was a normal city.

Re: Hobbesy's Fancy Scenery & Co.

I have bad news! I realized today, after making a map, that I can't sprite a city for shit. I still have all the signs everyone made, and I'll get those on a decent sprite sheet for other people to use.

In the mean time, I'll stick with the things I'm already pretty good at. Forest/Taiga maps!

If anything of weight walked on that rope bridge, their feet would get wet, I suggest using a strong generic one that doesn't bend like that. Or lower the water level.

Bumpdate! I'm working on another map, one with a nice dreary winter atmosphere.

I've also added an image with the signs from the defunct cyberpunk map. There's some other assorted things there, too.

Hobbesy, these are sick. Keep making awesome maps!
But yeah, more ways to move in the city (desert?) map would be cool.
Maybe make it look like a shaft downwards was created by a sign (or something heavy on the roof) falling through the floors?

New work in progress. This is going to be for a match with Tex. It should also update with any changes I make to it since it's on Dropbox!

Re: Hobbesy's Fancy Scenery & Co.

I think the snow on the trees contrast the actual pines too much. I think the biggest problem though is a large amount of noise in the dirt and rocks near the center. I think it would be better not to shade the rocks or ground either.

Re: Hobbesy's Fancy Scenery & Co.

I was thinking the shading on the rocks was a bit much when it came to detailing. Do you have any ideas on how to put snow on the trees short of changing the color of the entire sprite?
