The soldiers are now on high alert, knowing that the area is not completely vacant. The Pilot of the Vertibird takes the craft back up to scout the surrounding area and to discover the source of the high tower of smoke coming from the other side of the temple.

Inside the temple, the men and women quickly get to work. The engineer and a soldier begin to set up a radio and satellite, even the Sergeant is helping to unpack boxes.
Down the Stairwell, the Securitron is tasked with mapping the temple so that the team have blueprints.

The bridge continued to grow in size as more and more sections of the pond freeze into thick units of ice. The ambient temperature of the immediate point was now noticeably colder as the frost distilled into the air. The grenadier laboring reckoned that it would take three more bombs at most to completely bridge it over, and was quite happy with the amount of water he froze in a relatively short period of time, as such a feat was rather difficult for even the magically inclined fae to accomplish, at least for those not at the lady's level of power.

Anvil continued to observe the tree as it burned to the core, the sight of it sending chills down his spine. Out of the front hatch, the driver of the tank poked his head out in order to try and get a look at the commotion, spotting the smoke rising in the air. "We best get movin'; wouldn't want to get caught in a fire!"

Guardsman Laulentz(*) pulled out his Auspex as soon as he hit the ground. He had a bad feeling about that wreck of small space shuttle which lied before him. While his scanner was booting up, Laulentz looked around and quickly discovered tracks of unknown vehicle. He couldn't spare any second longer, because Surveyor pinged and detected human signatures just few meters from his squadmates position. He looked up on them as they were landing on the wreck and shouted "CONTACT!" through his helmet Vox-caster. That escalated pretty quickly. First mission, four people, planet that was supposed to be without any intelligent life anymore. Well, whatever happens, they need to send a message to rest of Imperial Forces.
(*)The only reason why everyone (including me) says they're French is their FAMAS las-carbines. Also because there is no Space French, their planet is named Elysia, and because we can have faith that future French won't be cowardly. But Afaik, they have Austrian names. Also blonde hair and blue eyes. Also yeah i am shit at writing descriptions, thank you.

[Commander] Damnit. Check again if one of them is armed.

Mrrshan warrior code strictly prohibits intentional murder of unarmed civilians, it is regarded as great shame unless they aren't actively opposing Mrrshan military efforts.

Troops are gathering near the cliff except Smirrsh, who gets into the landing ship.

The Vertibird ascends above the temple. The pilot gets a clear view of the tree tops and the Vertibird moves forward to scout out the smoke.

At the bottom of the temple, the Securitron spots what it presumes to be a lone unarmed civilian, its murky lens not being able to see the two other men standing not far behind him. After broadcasting its discovery to the rest of the squad, which quickly mobilises to join it, it comes to a standstill and 'shouts' to the man.

While the Securitron keeps its calm manner (mostly due to its basic and often shoddy military AI), the rest of the squad feel a mix of adrenaline and blind panic. The Sergeant runs a search on his terminal anything remotely similiar to the ship he saw, as well as forces that are known to operate in this area. However, the database search isn't yielding any useful results. At the radio, the engineer begins to broadcast back to HQ. She informs them of the succesful landing, but also of the potential threat.

Chris immidiately drops his shotgun when Reno starts panicking, he yells something about things moving at his feet. Jean and Chuck notice the incoming soldiers and do everything in their power to warn them about the danger that lurks here, something that they themselves greatly underestimated.

Laulentz was under impression that short human standing inside downed shuttle was screaming something at him in some form of archaic Low Gothic. Nevertheless, he aimed his carbine at waving person and ordered him to identify himself. Then, two loud metallic sounds that bursted through air when squad Sergeant and weapon specialist landed on top of vehicle. They passed a remark that walls were suprisingly thin for a spacecraft. Because of this, Guardsman Wilhelm decided that he is going to open locked airlock with his gun. With almost no recoil, with almost no sound, he shoot upper part of door, which quickly started to melt away(*).
(*)Afaik, Lasgun is perfectly able to shoot through 3m+ of solid concrete. And their armor protects from those shoots so...

The ice fairy armoured crew continued to slowly advance over the pond as it froze, section by section. Mintbright sniffed the air momentarily before calling out to the since silent blonde infantryman in the distance. "Oi Squash, get me me' helm!" The soldier sprung into action without any secondary movements, dutifully marching towards the tank in front of him to reach for his superior's bulky headgear. Daelgum muttered to his superior, hoping not to draw the attention of the gyrochaun in the distance. "Sir, why doesn't he ever talk?" The field commander glanced at the recruit in front of him yet again. "When did ye arrive here lad? You were round' durin that war with the yooks, right?"
Daeulgum nodded. "Of course, sir, but I was just makin' shoes with me friends. I've only shifted jobs cause' thar hardly is any leather to be found in the frozen city! Me skills were bein' wasted!"

"Squash tehre' was one o' the first to jump the call. He was fightan with nottin' but ah sharpened stick for the first few months, an' he was in teh war from begginin' to end. Da yooks changed him, an' whatever he saw on tat front, it took out his will to speak. Only reason why he ain't commandin' me." Mintbright took the second to wipe some gunk out of his eye. "You cae kill a fae all day, an' so long as he's got nature on is' side, he'll keep getting right back up someday. Take his mind out, an' he might as well stay dead like da tall folk do. Too many o' me friends went out dat way; dat teh cold iron was event-tully killin' dem was merciful."

Back in the western "front", the second tank and its accomplice stood in observation, seeing that the tree was now burned down to a stump. "Woah- what's te story here lads?" muttered Hammer, who was now staring at the burning tree with the rest of the group. Anvil continued to gaze out using his scope, struggling to keep his eyelash from getting in front of the lens, intently listening on the faint buzzing noise produced by the vetribird in the distance. "Don't see nothing. Any of you hear that, though? sounds...familiar."

From the west, two Akrozovlak BMPs work up a torrent of mud and chewed-up greenery as they enter the swamp. Being amphibious by design, they grind toward the temple heedless of the small pond ahead, with their passengers nervously enduring the heaving of their carriers as they await orders to disembark. Being only a light detachment dispatched to reconnoiter this swamp, they are at half-strength and lightly equipped. Not counting their vehicles, of course.

Within the rear vehicle's turret, the gunner spots the hulking shape of a the Vertibird as it heaves itself Eastward, and raises his autocannon to follow. However, it seems doubtful that he can actually acquire the target at the rate it's traveling, the problem being compounded by the vehicle's lurching.

Suddenly Reno is pulled down, Chris with him. Chris loses grip soon after seeing his friend being pulled towards the dark depths.
Chuck and Jean don't understand anything that is being said by the soldiers. Both feel panic grow, they will never survive this. Chuck starts slowly lowering his weapon to show good faith while Jean just backs off to escape the heat.

As the fire begins to crackle and spit, losing out against the dense, damp wood of the tree, Vizekapitan Engelhardt spots movement from just beyond the crest of the small hill the tree is situated on, from the area of the large grey dome he had assumed was a rock. Unable to make out fine detail without his spyglass, he can nonetheless ascertain that these beings do not move like humans, having an almost feline grace. 'Herr Bauingenieur, hurry up and move that earth, I believe we have guests on the way. Nodding, the stocky ingenieur attacks the ground with vigour, shoring up the earthen ramparts with planks. As the unknown aliens move closer, the Vizekapitain climbs up to the wooden firestep and calls out at the top of his voice in the direction of the new arrivals. 'HALT! Zis area hes been claimed by zer Imperial Army ov Belogravia! Identify yourselves, or ve vill be forced to open fire!' He hopes firstly that the universal translator will work properly - and secondly that these beings will not call his bluff.

Meanwhile, inside the temple ruins, a similar scenario plays out. Hearing a harsh, distinctly mechanical voice bark out orders, the Mechaniker drops his tools and puts his hands up, hoping that these foes are honourable enough not to shoot a noncombatant. The scout likewise hears the noise, and being more perceptive than the workman, also hears the crunch of combat boots on ancient stone and the clatter of combat gear. He sprints to the end of the corridor and on to the top of the stairs - out of view of the mysterious new sounds but with a clean shot of the stairwell. As he lets off a warning burst, he cries out 'HALT! YOU VILL GO NO FURTHER. WE ARE ZER MEN OV ZER CAISAR UND ZIS AREA IS NOW UNTER OUR CONTROL!'

Mrrshan commander is obvously confused. While he could understand that human despite some accent, situation is now seems more and more unclear to him. One thing is clear, though: they're still not proven to be hostile. And according to paragraph 26 of Chapter 2 of Mrrshan Warrior Code, Mrrshan commander decides to conduct parley.
[Commander] We are of Mrrshan expeditionary force sent here on behalf of His Majesty Emperess Viirrsha IV! Our objective is to scout the area, eleminating any armed opposition if any.

Mrrshan commander forces his voice on word 'armed' desperately hoping to find out that this so-called army is just a bunch of military-crazed civilians. But these hopes are ultimately crushed as loud bang of gunfire comes from the structure behind the humans. Almost at the same time he recieves a message from lander pilot that radar detected an aerial target clisong to their position. Autocannon emerges from its hatch again, tracking for potential threat, accompanied by rocket launcher that pops from another, much larger, hatch. Trooper Smirrsh rushes to the cliff and joins the anti-air effort, searching for targets through sights of his machine gun. Sniper and another Mrrshan trooper aiming their weapons at humans. The tension rises to the critical point.

There is a reason why i brought only 4 of them. Also consider that they don't have those flak jackets on arms, legs, and necks, and actually, if they got shoot from some high powered gun using .50 or armor piercing something else, it would be enough. It's Imperial Guard, not Space Marines. The only thing OP they could have is their Grav-Chutes which don't even make them go up without jumping, their Lasguns which can blow your head off and pierce a tank on high-power, have no recoil or sound but are semi-auto but Guardsmen aren't really good shoots. Their tactica is to flood enemy with light, not snipe them from distance. And it doesn't really make a difference if you're shoot from Lasgun or regular rifle, because regular rifles do their job pretty well, and there is not much difference between having your head exploded and having a fist-sized hole in your head. Oh, also Melta Gun but that thing has range smaller than your accusations and Elysian version only has five shoots IN LORE TOO.

((Technically, the only way you're going to punch through any decently armoured tank is by using your power pack as a grenade. Lasguns are relatively ineffective against metal, unless you're using hotshots, or targeting the weakest armor of a lighter tank. Not that my tanks are decently armoured.))

((Technically, Lasguns work pretty well against regular steel, it's just retardely weak against Wh40k alloys because they have high melting point and are generally stronger. Sergeant ordered his men to take care of civilian problem and while he jumped forward to scout Guardsman Laulentz took off and started to hover towards civilian with his weapon still aimed at him. The other soldier continued to create another entrance to shuttle. Everything seemed to go pretty good after all, and while people they meet were slightly short they weren't mutants for sure and if Elysians shoot whathever they are scared off with their superior weaponry they should be grateful. Then he noticed something else in distance, something he took for parts from downed wreck, but those things were far too shiny for this old rusted ship. His scanners identified that it was ice, which was uncommon in middle of jungle, and also few alien organisms with maybe some archaic armored vehicle. He assumed this is what humans were scared off and reported to rest that they should finish what they're doing and get ready to shoot some xenos. Those weren't Eldar or Orks for sure, so this should be a piece of cake for battle trained Elysians. After that, they might return to Tauros and use it's long range Vox-casters to report with fleet.

Chris loses sight of Reno and his mind caves in, tears start pouring from his eyes and he feels paralyzed, not even reacting to the shot above or the light coming from the now glowing door. Jean forces herself against the door, again and again, but without much progress.
