The United Socialist Republic of Akrozovlakia (USRA)

Dalīts jsme slabí jako proutek, ale vereint tvoríme mohutný puternic!

Overview:
The United Socialist Republic of Akrozovlakia is a mid-sized, landlocked nation of roughly thirty-six million citizens, with a rich cultural heritage and vast reserves of timber, coal, and mineral wealth. Surrounded by the Alpavek mountains on three sides, Akrozovlakia has managed to maintain a distinct culture separate from most of the surrounding nations, to the point of being considered backwards by the greater international community.

Government:
The Akrozovlakian Government claims to be a "Socialist Republic," formed as a compromise between the former Authoritarian Government and a Socialist Revolutionary movement that gained popular support in the mid-twentieth century. In reality, it is a Military Junta, answering to a "Great Leader" who usually attains this position through popular majority, or through application of force.

Military:
The Akrozovlakian Defense Forces are divided into three main branches. The Army, the Border Guards, and the Air Forces.

More information will be added in time. For now, I'll cut to the sprites.

Just like to say that Belarus, which is in itself a Mid-Sized landlocked country, has only roughly 10 million in population.

Michael Rosen YTPs are still funny.

You're not alone.

If your plan of attack is going to plan, you're walking into an ambush.

I'll admit that I just googled Poland's population for that number.

Population density is a thing. The UK has one of the largest populations in Europe with one of the smaller square km areas.

I'm aware. But the point I was making was the whole former constituent of the Soviet Region in correlation with population and density. I'm assuming this army is a homage to the Soviet Union considering the words 'Authoritarian' and 'Socialist' being thrown around along with a sickle and the colours of the former union. But meh, I'm just picky when it comes to continuity errors in... just about anything, really.

I can understand being picky about details. The Backstory is a bit of a work in progress, I just wanted to put something in this topic beside sprites.

As for their inspiration, they're mostly based off of satellite nations of the USSR, primarily East Germany and Czechoslovakia. I've always had fun with Dictatorships in games and roleplaying, and thought the idea of a Dictatorship pretending to be two different completely opposed forms of government in order to placate the masses amused me. Hence, two overlayed symbols. The Bundle of Sticks (Fascist), and the Scythe (Communist).

Edit:
Also, I've finished the emblem of the Border Guards.

The Roundel of the Akrozovlakian Border Guards contains three symbols, each representing a branch of the Guards. The Compass represents the Engineering Corps, the Bundle of Arrows represents the Artillery Corps, and the Wall represents the Border Garrison itself.

Re: The United Sociofascialist Republic of Akrozovlakia (USRA)

I'll admit that I was on a bit of a Papers, Please! kick when I started this project.

But I'm kinda busy with other stuff right now, so I'm not sure when I'll get back to work on this army. Sorry to disappoint.

Last thing I worked on was shading most of the tank, though.

Re: The United Sociofascialist Republic of Akrozovlakia (USRA)

I remembered what I learned when working on my other army.

Vehicles need to be somewhat short if I want them to  fit on maps that aren't just cities and streets.

Well, that and I wanted everything used by this army to kind of, but not quite, resemble cold war era equipment.

RE: The United Sociofascialist Republic of Akrozovlakia (USRA)

So I've started working on this army again. I scaled down the tank because I realized it was too huge and out-of-proportion to my usual infantry scale. Then, after doing that, I started working on different vehicles based off of the same chassis.

The topmost sprites are inspired by the SU-122-54 Self Propelled Gun, the ones to the left are almost exactly like a ZSU-57-2 Self Propelled Anti Aircraft Gun, and the ones on the right are the base model (which Stefman accurately called as a shorter T-55.)

I've grown to really love the PW scale of things. It's an excellent balance of small size (which allows me to really rush out sprites) while still retaining a decent level of detail that reminds me of one of my favorite toys ever, Micro Machines. Not to mention PW battles just look really cool.

Working out uniforms for infantry, now. From left to right, Motoshütski (Mechanized Infantry, IFVs and Armored Carriers will be next on the list of things to make), Reserveshütski (Grunts/Scouts), Grenzertrüppski (Border Guards), and Vehicle Crewmen.

By the God Emperor, this sounds hilarious. Like, a five year old wanting to call his imaginary soldiers something serious.
No, really, those names are damn funny.

More types of infantry (including alternate winter troops), and an IFV to carry them. It's directly inspired by, and pretty much just a stubby BMP-2. Topmost one mounts a 73mm smoothbore gun instead of the standard 30mm Autocannon, and the lower two mount different kinds of ATGMs which I have yet to name.

That's just... impressive, to say the least.

If you need names of russian weaponry, including internal army designations, I could offer some help.

Yeah, he's damn good.
Also, i reread your posts and found something that really bothers me.

What do you mean by opposed forms of government? Facists and Communists?
Because if you do, you could as well use swastika as symbol, considering that Nazis were pretty much that.

Fascism and Communism tend to fall on complete opposite ends of the political spectrum, with Fascism being more right-oriented, and Communism left-oriented. Although admittedly, it generally still comes down to the guys on top fucking over the guys on the bottom.

As for the symbols, the traditional symbol of Fascism is not the Swastika. It's the Fasces. Since the Swastika is more directly associated with National Socialism, it wouldn't really fit the theme of the army.

Something inside makes me fell you think i'm idiot but i'll try to not cover my post with counter-attacks in purpose of being less assholish.
While i know that Nazism =/= Fascism but it was just a remark that Communism and Fascism is not really on opposite ends of political spectrum (which is (spectrum) bullshit but that's just my opinion) because as shown by Hitler it's quite easy to join both, so it's not really two different and completly opposed forms of government. They're pretty much considered as that because Nazis vs Communist struggle.

I'll concede the point, sorry if I misread your intent. I somewhat agree with you on the idea of the "spectrum" being bullshit, or at least as a left-versus-right sort of thing.

Also, I finished detailing and shading some of the other vehicles I've had on the side, slapped the Akrozovlak Army Roundel on it, and... well, here they are. I don't remember if I showed off the armored cars and trucks or not.
