Tunnel Picture Wars game thread

So, Gamma, L20, Pyro and Stefman, discuss about the upcoming match here.

Pyro, could you just use those guys as they currently are now? They look okay on that grey background.

Other dudes: post what armies you plan on using here.

The map should be done by tomorrow. As you should know, it's gonna be quite a big earth-coloured square, in which you draw your units digging in. You won't know the starting position of other players, nor the position of open caves, which probably contain minerals, loot and other goodies, appropriate for the armies you are going to use.

If things get boring, I will probably make some small-scale fights using my own set of units, again, appropriate to the armies you are going to use.

Let's hope this lasts!

Also, the caverns could also technically be potentially filled with monsters. It's just standard.

And, uuh, Stef, the tanks might be a tad bit too small, compared to the other guys. I guess you'll have to find a good reason why the men inside are so tiny... Or just pretend they don't exist.

I will choose the starting places for you guys, once I get my stuff ready. I guess this is a free-for-all.

A few pointers: digging is highly encouraged, the deeper one goes, the higher the chances that there will be minerals, or treasure. Also, the map may turn out to be big huge, I was wondering if that's alright with you.

I know that I said that like 5 times, but it is very important to keep your starting position and goals hidden from the other players. Also, you should come up with original ways to block off the tunnels, in case of attacks, since enemies in the starting base could prove... troublesome. But I could prevent that, if I let you have good base defenses. Actually, let's do that instead!

Once everybody posts their army, or at least posts that they can start the match, I'll reveal the map and starting positions.

Anyways, I've made the concept for the map. As i thought, it's massive. Here it is:

The starting bases should be somewhere around 300 pixels wide by 200 pixels tall. You could start spriting them, but it's not necessary to do it now. About the starting units: I think ten dudes should be alright for starters. Stefman, you should have something more akin to 7 tanks, since they seem to be quite powerful, and they'll be easy for you to produce.

I assume you other guys are using human-ish dudes. Well, I'm not sure how you'll get reinforcements. Perhaps teleportation, cloning, or just new dudes appearing in your base. Use your common sense.

Also, constructive criticism on the map is encouraged.

Yep, you got it, arson lover!

If two of you guys meet up and decide to fight, the actual fighting will take place in a thread in the Matches board, which I will create when it is needed. The map you play on will be the cave/tunnel where the meeting took place, separated from the game map, so as not to give away the position of the fight, or of the players.

Also, we should impose a limit on how much you can dig. I think 150-200 pixels every turn should be alright.

Ooooh. How about you give us small maps that we expand every time we dig. Everytime you do this, you update the global map on your computer. Every time one of us makes a turn, save that individual picture as a global turn, and when the winner is decided, Post the turns with our movements on it.

Just a quick question, any specific lore reason for why we decided to dump our units not only in the middle of nowhere, but underground too? Or is just shit happened, we're here on an impulse?

Oh, hello, Gamma. Well, in this specific area , the earth is rich in a weird sort of mineral, a great source of energy, but it also has quite some odd properties, which will be revealed as the match moves on. What sort of army do you plan on using?

@Pyro: Don't worry, you won't have a single clue as to where the other players are at. And I'm glad we have such diverse armies: firstly, we have tanks, then we've got freaking necromancers! I can't wait to see what Gamma and L20 show up with!

Also, I'd like to know as many things as possible about your armies. If you don't feel like sharing with the others is alright, then PM me the info. The more I know, the easier it will be for me to tune the gameplay to your playstyle.

I should go and necro my army thread so I can refluff it but the primary resource is souls and bones for unit making. An expidition may carry a soul jar filled with hundreds of souls for the cause, and some bone bags for short-term reinforcement, but in the long term local bone sites will be dug and mined for bones. Defossilization occurs with magic, and a soul goes into the body to roam around again.

Oh...there's way too much stuff for me to tell you about DEM Corp. I've got a whole word document filled with fluff that I may eventually compile into a tangible army thread. But the general gist is: cybernetic magitech "woodbots", lead by crystalords and ladies, that is the glamorous business known as DEM Corp. I'll dump in additional info when I compose a more suitable sprite sheet for show.

Also this is quite varied, tanks versus dinosaurs and necromancers vs woodbots vs some robot/human army (based on what I remember L20 using in the past). I'm interested in the results of me and Pyro meeting, who will be the greater magicians? (Me)
